special cl 500

A century ago, on June 24 1909, Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft registered the design of the Mercedes star, and on August 6 the same year, Benz & Cie. registered the word “Benz” enclosed in a laurel wreath. Both companies are a single entity now, and the company has unveiled a special edition to mark the century.

On top of the basic CL 500, the special edition adds a new AMG sports package with a muscular front, side skirts, rear aprons and painted brake calipers with Mercedes Benz lettering. The car gets exclusive 20-inch five dual spoke alloys painted titanium gray. Interiors are covered in leather, black piano lacquer trim and of course, symbols of the century old trademarks.

The center console holds both the trademarks in their original form; the way they were trademarked a century ago. The model is available for order, and deliveries will begin June 26 onwards. The special edition model will cost €137,445, a €17,850 increase over the production model.
