The environment friendly MINI E had its fair share of limelight with a glittering debut at the LA Auto Show. As the initial run sees 500 vehicles on the road, it was speculated that the car would be mass-produced. BMW, apparently does not share the same sentiments, and has decided that there won’t be a production model.
Electric Minis currently on the road will return to BMW engineers after completing their one-year lease, and will be used to plan a better lineup of cars, perhaps built on the same drivetrain or technology. The drivetrain is likely to find its way to the 5-series or 7-series, while the electric system may be used in the 3-series, X1 and X3.
