Mitsubishi Motors has announced the launch of its new sedan, the Galant Fortis for the Japanese market. This will be the company’s first sedan launch in its home market after seven years. Galant Fortis is the first model to carry Mitsubishi’s ‘new face’ front visage that is to become the hallmark of all future Mitsubishi sedans.
The new sedan is powered by a 2.0-liter DOHC MIVEC aluminum block engine mated to Mitsubishi’s INVECS-III 6-speed Sport Mode CVT. This combination is fuel economic and the sedan has earned a four star rating for emissions that are 75% below the specified amount in Japan’s 2005 Emissions Standards. A high-rigidity platform along with a revamped suspension underpin get along to support a high level of handling, response and safety performance.
Sport models come with paddle shifters that allow the driver to change gears without having to take a hand off the steering wheel.
The inverted-slant nose with a trapezoidal grille is a hallmark of Mitsubishi’s sedans. The exterior design is combined with vibrant looks to create a sporty and wide stance styling.
Interiors of the new sedan have a bowed dashboard to create a sense of more space. The instrumentation, climate controls and steering wheel come with silver accents. Deodorizers and an odor-eating head lining work together to get rid of foul smells or cigarette smoke in the car. Two color schemes are available for the interior, the black monotone and the black/beige two-tone.
A 7-airbag SRS system accounts for the safety of the passengers and driver. There’s also an adaptive front lighting to improve the driver’s field of vision at night.
Mitsubishi Motors Communication System (MMCS) will be standard on the NAVI Package trim levels. The MMCS comprises of a 30 GB hard disk drive audio/navigation system with 7-inch LCD screen, 2,000-title music server and ultra-fast route search. Galant Fortis will feature the Rockford Fosgate premium sound system, which is also present in the Outlander and Delica D5.
Cost of the two- and four- drive Galant Fortis varies from $15,425 to $21,045. Super Exceed and Super Exceed NAVI package trims of the sedan will follow in October this year.
