As a part of its environmentally friendly technology programmes, Mitsubishi Motors and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will co-develop a next-generation diesel engine by 2010 to be used in cars exported to Europe. By 2009 all production of the new two-liter class unit engines is expected to be over. After which it will be installed in Mitsubishi Motors’ major small to mid-sized European Mitsubishi cars.
Not only are these engines designed to meet better fuel economy, but also aims to get best output level and lowest possible emission level. The new engine will also displace Volkswagen AG and DaimlerChrysler AG diesel engines, which Mitsubishi currently uses in its small and mid-sized cars.
