Biggest auto show in the world, the Frankfurt Motor Show is a couple of weeks away and automakers around the world are gearing up to mark their presence. Many new models and concepts will debut at this show. Mitsubishi will display a total of 19 models at the show. The most sought after among these will be the Concept cX and the Lancer Sport sedan.

Lancer Sport:

The Lancer is a rainmaker for Mitsubishi and by far one of the most popular cars the world has ever seen. Since its release in 1973, more than six million Lancers have been sold worldwide. This sedan is coming to Europe after its launch in North America, Russia and Japan. In Japan, this model is called the Galant Fortis.

European avatar of the Lancer will have three engine options. A 1.8-liter DOHC MIVEC with aluminum cylinder block with an output of 105 kW with an INVECS-III 6-speed Sport Mode CVT or a 5-speed manual transmission, a 2-liter turbocharged diesel (103 kW) mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.5-liter DOHC MIVEC with a maximum power of 80kW will have a 4-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission.

The new sedan is wider, taller and slightly longer than its predecessor is. Exterior design is engaging and showcases Mitsubishi Motors’ hallmark inverted-slant nose with a trapezoidal grille along with a sporty, wide-stance styling. Safety features include SRS airbags (7 airbags) and AFS.

Concept-cX:

Concept-cX is Mitsubishi’s new generation compact SUV. The engine is a Euro-5 compliant 1.5L clean diesel mated to Mitsubishi’s Twin clutch SST (Sport Shift Transmission) for more efficient transmission. The engine will also feature a VG turbocharger, DOC and DPF.

Concept-cX makes use of the company’s green plastic for interior trim materials, in a bid to go eco-friendly. This crossover also has Mitsubishi’s inverted-slant nose with trapezoidal grille, which will be present on all future vehicles from the company.

The crossover has a 4100mm body supported on large 225/45R19 tires.

Another prototype to watch out at Frankfurt will be the j-MIEV, Mitsubishi’s Electric Vehicle.
