The name says it all, but this “Monocycle” is no ordinary monocycle, and uses today’s technology to its greatest advantage, being much more than just a simple one-wheeled cycle. Designed to be self-balancing, the monocycle uses accelerometers and gyroscopes with balancing algorithms to stay upright, of course, the rider has to maintain the balance too, but presence of these gadgets reduces the trouble.
An electric motor provides backup to the rider, so that the everyday commute doesn’t become a tiring effort. The rider controls the speed with body movements, leaning forward will make the cycle go faster, while a move upwards will slow it down. The idea does look interesting and fun, but we have our doubts about monocycles. Unless the self-balancing part works extremely well, this Monocycle may have very limited use.
