The German car makers have been relentlessly pushing the performance envelope further with every power car launch. This time around Mercedes Benz’s in-house car mod outfit, AMG, has given the SL65 some real heavy power treatment to end up with the SL65 Black Series pumping out a nausea inducing 670 thoroughbred German horses. All this happens courtesy the SL65’s twin turbo V12 engine which surprisingly drives the rear wheels with a five speed automatic gearbox. This is simply because the new seven speed auto is just not capable of taking the train pulling torque of 1000Nm the SL65 Black Series manages to grunt out.

If you are wondering why this car is called the Black Series, it is because this Merc has a huge amount of carbon fiber going into it. All that carbon fiber has managed to shave off a massive 226 kilos of German girth to enable the Black Series Merc weigh in at 1850 kilos. To keep the car planted to terra firma you have a huge air dam up front, ably assisted by the wide spoiler at the rear. Plenty of suspension tuning jobs and other other aerodynamics bits make the SL65 Black Series a Merc that can carry plenty of speed around corners too. Three fifty of these tyre eating monsters will be made and two hundred and ten will take the ship across the pond to the U.S of A. Finally, the US of A too gets it’s share of Teutonic muscle car action.
