Recently I saw the French sport of street running and how people are trying to promote it across the planet. As dangerous as it appears, these people say that it is pretty safe and it is actually something that everyone can learn. The sport is called Parcour and it is truly exciting. I think it is one of the most useful sports that I have seen in a long, long time. Now people have decided that they will design a bike that will jump across buildings and virtually be a super vehicle.
The Moov concept, designed by Jean-Michel Raad, won first prize at the 13th MA Design Degree Show at Coventry University, where Raad is a student. The urban motorbike concept was inspired by parcour, a French street sport involving running, leaping from roofs, scaling walls, and other Spider Man-like activities. To that end, the vehicle incorporates “bio-mechanical muscles” that allow the chassis to transform, enabling the rider to perform acrobatic stunts. Bio-mechanical muscles are active area of robotics research, and they are beginning to be used in advanced prosthetics.
I obviously have absolutely no idea about what bio-mechanical muscle is and how this technology works. But the bike seems damn good and it is crafted amazingly well, in a style that seems to be the best suited for aerodynamic functionality. Now one has to wait and see where the Moov goes from here on. I have heard about it before and I hope to hear about it again and next time in a big commercial way.
