
Navigation systems could soon change from being the monotonous 2 dimensional displays they are to a more cheerful 3 dimensional setting. And, this could very well happen next year. Auto Express believes that advancements in hardware and the availability of faster processors will make three-dimensional systems feasible, and since the view will be available in greater detail, finding your way around will also get simpler.
Dual image LCD screens have been made available in vehicles from Land Rover and Jaguar, and the same tech could allow for practical 3D systems as well. Sony and Panasonic have been selling a near 3D system in Japan and Clarion has one for the UK, it is only a matter of time before other aftermarket systems start offering the same and the tech eventually finds favor with OEMs.
