Launch of the new Vauxhall ecoFLEX Insignia comes with a promise to deliver better fuel economy and lower emissions, without cutting back on performance and power. It uses the same 2.0-l CDTi diesel engine as the standard model, which delivers 160 PS and 350Nm torque. Zero to 60mph time is at 8.9 seconds, and the car tops at 135mph.

Fuel savings come from better aerodynamics, as the coefficient of drag for the new car stands at 0.26 as compared to 0.27 on the previous model. The ride sits 10mm lower; higher final drive ratio and low rolling resistance Michelin tires also contribute to better fuel efficiency. The car gets 41.5mpg on urban roads, and 67.3 mpg on the highways, taking the average efficiency to 54.7mpg. CO2 emissions stand at 136g/km. On road prices begin at £19,600.00 for the Exclusiv trim, and go all the way to £25,745.00 for the Elite Nav.
