We had earlier written about the new Fiesta getting its looks from the Verve Concept. These spyshots add testimony to the fact. Here is a closer look of the upcoming production model.
The prototypes were caught testing in southern Europe, they are still wearing disguise to conceal the true styling, but Ford already gave an idea of it with its corresponding concept car, on display at this week’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Sharing most of its technical parts with the new Mazda 2, this will be the second car on the new B2E platform. A further model will probably be the next generation Fusion.
The 2008 Fiesta will feature a design flavoured with Ford Europe’s Kinetic themes. Also, there is a decision that the 2008 Fiesta will look almost the same in Europe as it will in the US. That means that the new Fiesta will have a trapezoidal grille below the license plate and headlamps that run back to the front wheel arches. The wheel arches will be more pronounced both in the front as well in the back, and the car features a smooth side-window design and a rounded rear glass.
The new platform is lighter and slightly smaller than the old one, therefore the new Fiesta probably will be lighter in comparison with the old one. Lightweight and crash-safety have been two priority goals from Ford, which is well accompanied with good fuel economy. The road going new Fiesta Model will arrive in the showrooms by mid-2008.
