ford verve
Yesterday, we wrote what the next-gen Fiesta may look like. The car is expected to take much of its design from the Ford Verve concept. This Concept will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show and will provide design cues for all upcoming small cars from Ford.

Verve Concept has been developed by Ford of Europe. It is the first in line of concept vehicles getting ready for a debut in Europe, North America and Asia. Going on Ford’s theory of ‘kinetic design’, the new Verve carries forward the legacy of the Iosis and Iosis X concepts. The concept has been built with an eye on production feasibility; no wonder speculations of it being the forerunner of the next-gen Fiesta are gaining momentum.

The concept is bold and sporty. Front of the vehicle is dominated by a large trapezoidal lower grille, with the blue oval badge in the center of the compact upper grille. The lower grille has strong horizontal blades punctuated by an array of ‘bullet’ shapes. Headlamps of the concept feature two projector beams and a light-emitting diode (LED) array. The headlamps, inspired by the Mondeo, reach nearly upto the wheel arches, which are highly pronounced.

Pillarless side windows meet the curved upper contour line of the body. Upper contour lines extend to the semi-high mounted LED tail lamps. The glass roof of the concept adds to its look. This concept drives on 18-inch, 12-spoke, two-piece alloy wheels.

Interiors of the concept are dramatic and good looking. The instrument panel and the door panel have full surfaces and flowing contours.

Since the concept was designed for a generation that is heavily influenced by mobile phones, designers took cues from the gadget. Centre stack of the instrument panel follows the instrument panel shape to frame a large-screen, colour Ford Convers+ system incorporated in the upper dash. Every button and switch was crafted with the kind of minute attention to detail that characterizes good mobile phone designs. The concept is likely to integrate Ford Sync, which the company co-developed with software giant Microsoft.

The final word on the concept will be from the consumers. And the company will look for public feedback on the concept on its debut in the Frankfurt Auto Show, where it will share the centre stage with the new Kuga and the facelifted Focus.
