Mercedes-Benz is adding another diesel variant to its list of S-Class range. Its new eight-cylinder S 420 CDI model is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 CDI engine. This engine develops 235 kW (320 hp) of power at 3,600 rpm and 730 Nm (538 lb-ft) of peak torque from 2,000 rpm.
With a top speed of 250 kph (155 mph), the S 420 CDI powers from 0-100 kph in 6.6 seconds. This fuel-efficient vehicle consumes fuel figuring 9.4 to 9.6 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers on the NEDC cycle (24.5 to 25 mpg US)!
Just behind the V6 S 320 CDI, this figure makes the S 420 the second-most fuel efficient vehicle in the company’s S series. Get ready to book one now, as this new series is available to order now, and has started delivering customers from this December.
