New Humvee for the military has shed weight. Strategically placed foam, balsa wood and carbon make the Humvee ’slimmer’ and pull down 900 pounds in weight. Weight loss is not exactly what we are looking for in a Humvee, it is after all a military vehicle, not a racecar. But there’s more to this weight loss than meets the eye.
The weight loss in the Humvee is made up by strengthening its armour and mine blast protection. Stronger armour means better protection for soldiers in hostile territories. Well, the Humvee just got better, and safer.
