old rusty tires

According to estimates, more than a billion tires end up in landfills annually, and since they contain metal, they can’t be used for conventional recycling processes. Research at CSIRO is headed in direction to get rid of this problem, something that could possibly increase tire recycling by nearly 50%. The new technology is claimed to be more environment friendly, cheaper and more energy efficient as compared to the currently used process.

They intend to convert tires into quality rubber powder, which may then be supplied to manufacturers. As it is, the demand for rubber outstretches its supply. The research is still going on and is a better alternative to gadget cases from tires.
