Current Citroen C3 has not undergone any major facelift since it was released back in 2001, but the upcoming next generation defines a radical design for the C3. Images with Auto Express say the new C3 will feature a new and bold look when it is unveiled in autumn next year.

The front of the C3 shows a round nose and high-mounted, large-lens headlamps that look similar to Ford’s Verve Concept. The model shows a resemblance to the current C3 in its prominent wheel arches but these are likely to be smoothened in the production version. Roof of the car will get a C4- Picasso style windscreen that stretches up over the cabin.

Design of the rear end is also a departure from the present design with boomerang lights taking their place at the rear. Likely to be built on Peugeot’s latest 207 platform, the supermini will come with three- and five-door variants. Model variations for the new car will replace the C2, which will later be dropped. Expect this car to reach showrooms by 2009.
