Here is a car that is not going to appear anytime soon on the road or on the rack. Maybe this will never take to the track, but if you believe in what Nike has to say, then they might well win the F1 Championship for the next century or two without even breaking a sweat. This amazingly futuristic masterpiece is something that is a concept design from the designers of Nike and like many of the amazingly cool stuff produced by the brand; it also has absolutely great appeal and a breathtaking aerodynamic design.

The work of Nike and the makers of Gran Tourismo 4, this is a totally fictional car that had a whole history creatively fabricated for the GT4 release party. The dramatic and futuristic design of the Nike ONE with its athlete focus, stretched surfaces and less-is-more philosophy is directly inspired from the principles of Nike founder Bill Bowerman. The company went to great lengths to understand what a Nike car should be before coming up with this absolutely mind boggling concept. As Nike is an athletic company, there had to be more to the concept than just another fast car. In case of the ‘One’, the athlete is the critical part of this vehicle. The vehicle has been designed taking inspiration from the human body, its dynamics and its functioning and response to its environment.

An athlete training to drive the Nike ONE uses a physical resistance simulator, which mimics the vehicle’s controls, along with the digital simulation within GT4 to train their muscles and mind for specific tracks and competition scenarios. While the car does look too good to be true right now, we never know what we can expect in the near future with the pace at which nanotechnology and carbon fibers are progressing. Will this be ever the car that would produce a future world champion? You never know!
