Nissan has unveiled electric vehicle LEAF that will go on sale late next year in the USA and Japan. Its 80KW AC electric motor that generates 108bhp and 208lb ft of torque will be powered by a lithium-ion battery pack that contains 48 individual lithium ion battery modules that can generate 24kWh of electricity. Nissan is claiming that the LEAF will travel around 100 miles on a single charge and its battery can be charged within 30 minutes from a fancy three phase charging station. For those of you who want to charge the LEAF at home, you’ll have to wait for about 16 hours for a fully charged battery. LEAF’s production will begin from Nissan’s Oppama Japan plant and its batteries will be produced in their Zama plant. Nissan hasn’t made a statement on the price of the vehicle, but the company has claimed that the car’s price will be very competitive with comparable internal combustion vehicles on the market.
