Having showcased their eco-determination with recent models and concepts like the X-Trail FCV, the ‘Effis’ car concept, the Livina C-Gear and even the Ideo, Nissan have once again launched a system that highlights the company’s commitment to their “Green Program 2005.” Aimed at both saving fuel and polluting emissions, the Eco Pedal system from Nissan is designed to assist drivers by activating a counter push-back control mechanism each time the driver steps on the accelerator.

If the system detects excess pressure, it immediately informs the driver that they might be using more fuel than required. Additionally, an eco-driving indicator integrated into the instrument panel tells the driver about real-time fuel consumption, transmission efficiency and emissions levels to help them economize better. The Japanese manufacturer plans to commercialize the ECO Pedal starting with models hitting production in 2009.
