Enthusiasts around the world are waiting to try their hands on the GT-R but Nissan has made the model pretty much exclusive. Nissan has earmarked nearly 1,000 units for sale annually, of which 300 will reach British shores. Moreover, sales will officially start in the UK after the car makes its UK debut at the Geneva Motor Show next year. Deliveries of the cars are expected to begin by spring 2009.
Some people may be looking at the grey market, not just to get the coveted car earlier, but also at a bargain. Deliveries of the GT-R in Japan will begin on December 6 this year with a price tag that is equivalent to £34,400. Add in the cost of shipping and import duty and the total stands at in the range of £42,000, much less than the £60,000 tag the car is likely to carry when it debuts officially.
According to Nissan, importing cars are not likely to match the full UK spec cars. Imported cars may have an iffy radio reception in Europe and shorter warranties. Importing cars could indeed be a bad idea but are the GT-R enthusiasts listening?
