Of all car makers you wouldn’t really expect Nissan to launch a plug-in electric car considering the number of automobiles it sells in a year. But for the kind of technological advancement it showcases in its cars, achieving the feat of mass-producing such a variant is now a reality with Nissan, something which would do a world of good for the brand. It has only been the GM manufactured E1 that has gone into mass-production, other than that we have only heard off concepts on similar lines and nothing more. According to Nissan, the first fleet of the electric powered car would arrive by 2010 and the public could lay their hands on it within a year’s time. It would not only bear an electronic motor at front but a few years time could also see a model with individual electric motors with 20 hp on the wheels gaining ground.
The Lion batteries would also feature for sure considering the powertrain of few of the previous concepts to have debuted for Nissan. The overall range of the car would expectedly be 100 miles which means that this product would be meant for people who hardly commute distances longer than 100 miles in a day. Affordability thus would have to be a very important factor if Nissan intends to attract a sound customer base for this version. For the rest of you, keep guessing its name!
