Nissan made a great vibe with its concept car ‘Pivo’ in 2005 when it was showcased in Tokyo Motor Show. This year’s Tokyo Motor Show saw the second generation of this concept car Pivo 2. Pivo 2 has been in news for the much touted in-car robotic assistant, which may sound creepy to some but can be helpful and a ground breaking technology of future, if to go by Ghosn’s words.
Nissan has already launched few technologies that can pave the way for future. Like ’self-healing’ paint and around-view systems. Nissan’s prime goal is to lead the automotive world on the charts of technology.
Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Nissan revealed to Automotive News that Nissan is working on launching 15 new technologies per year from 2009 onwards. Drunken and tired driver detection systems, distance control systems, vehicle communication systems, ultra-clean catalytic converters and active lane departure prevention systems are other gadgets that we will see soon and are in pipeline already.
And obviously, Pivo2’s in-car robot assistant also makes it to the list of the technologies which Nissan will be offering to the world. In-car robot will judge driver’s state of mind by facial expressions and voice of the driver. Using this information it will interact with the driver using speech and motion in order to induce more positive mental state, this will help in experiencing safer and more enjoyable driving
