Hoping the world does not end by 2026 - we erring mortals will get a chance to be, more or less, immortal :-). For that futuristic time, comes a prediction - end of the horrific car accidents.
Through a breathtaking innovation called Vehicle-To-Vehicle Communication (V2V) our grandchildren will no longer face this acute problem, which we, their grandparents, meet everyday. Volkswagen’s Electronics Research Laboratory recently used this technology in two Jettas and two Audi A3s. Carsten Bergmann, a VW lab manager comments:
The technology is doable right now.
More refined then this — the DSRC-equipped Cadillac CTS. This General Motors innovation automatically applies brake to the cars without even alerting the driver when collision seems likely.
Honda R&D too, is working toward this goal. Underway is a vibrating steering wheels and pedals called Haptic Feedback - a human-machine interface to alert drivers whenever necessary.
