They have the wherewithal at least in terms of decision making, but again they are Bavarians not Americans and sadly that is the difference.
Hail Mercedes, for giving the production sanction to the Ocean Drive Concept which was made public at this year’s North American international Auto Show held in Detroit.
This convertible would be based on the S600 platform. There is little uncertainty looming over the engine this four-door convertible coupe would incorporate; some predict it would be the 510-horsepower, 5.5L, V12 owing to the fact that the platform is borrowed from the S600.

The other ones looking to sneak under the hood could possibly be the 5.5L V8 to or the 600+ horsepower biturbo V12 beast from AMG.
What’s more is the fact that there is a sense of nostalgia incorporated too, though not directly or intentionally; it would be the first four- door convertible coupe to surface since the days of the Lincoln Continental.

Indeed Mercedes is not the only one trying to revive the retro heat; Audi is inline too with its A7. the Ocean Drive would be drivable on road by 2011.
