Monocabs could soon mean a different thing in the automotive world considering the plethora of options complimented by technology, the Meriva Concept from Opel has to offer. We begin with the doors or rather the flexdoors, which make life doubly easier for an infant who has to get out of the car. Instead of putting in a real effort to get out of it, all he has to do is to sail out of it, courtesy of the unique doors that open the way they are depicted in the image. They open to a 90 degree angle bettering the 60 of the current production Meriva. To compliment that non-ubiquitous feature is the aid of the electronic child lock.

Storage is another important area where this concept outshines its manufactured adversaries. To the masses surprise, the Meriva Concept comes with a load capacity of 1420 Liters when converted into a two-seater MPV. This is possible with the rear seats which can be completely folded to the floor. Even without using this feature, it offers a lot of space for it now seats four unlike the current version which comes as a three seater in the rear. Even the central space between the four seats can be used to get machines as big as a coffeemaker affixed. The load-floor too is technically upgraded as it can rise to 20 centimeters on the touch of a button.

I am hoping that Opel introduces this car in the market with the doors remaining unaltered. If that happens, coupled with the vociferous space, this could well become the Monocab of the year.
