The Beast:
Designing a concept car for the future seems to be all about being capable of doing many things in a compact package. The Peugeot Design Contest seems to have brought out the best in designers across the globe. French designer Thierry Dumaine has created a concept electric car for the future roads that looks like a F1 car of today’s world. The car is not just a simple four wheeler but can act as a trike and even a monocycle when needed. The design is nothing radically new in terms of the aerodynamics or exo-skeleton shape but its till seems very sensible.
The Machine:
The Peugeot Facile is powered by an electric engine that guarantees an emission-free ride. The car can instantly transform itself into a trike by bringing the two front wheels to a single point. One can also detach the extra wheel and use it as an electric monocycle to power ones way out of traffic.

The Thrill:
While the facile seems very sound technically and has a design that is simple and fun, it still has nothing new to show. Both the concept and the shape have been sketched before and that does not speak too highly about the designer’s creativity. Facile is fun but just not impressive enough.

I take exception to this statement Sameer ”The design is nothing radically new in terms of the aerodynamics or exo-skeleton shape”. The Facile doesn’t have seamless curves and with its weird wheels, I doubt if the car could ever match today’s F1 cars in speed and performance. I still believe, though, the design is eccentric. It may not be the most pleasing sight, but would still draw eyeballs.
I meant ”nothing radically new” as there have been scores of cars in the past few months that look all very alike and just starting to get the feeling that concept car designers are all going the same way. When you are designing a car which is for the future and your only individual identity is the exo-skeleton, then you might want to stand away from the crowd. For me Facile gets lost in there somewhere. Anyway, I do agree that its is no match whatsoever to F1 cars of today and is still a pretty fine concept.
I agree with that point Sameer. I feel all concept cars have started following a trend and end up looking contrived. Every car is trying to be radical but looks no different than the concept preceding it. Sad scenario, this!
