Legendary coachbuilders Pininfarina are about to start making cars. Pininfarina has teamed up with French battery specialist Bollore to make electric cars that will be available by 2010. The two companies will invest €150 million in a 50-50 joint venture to produce the yet-unnamed car.
Pininfarina’s electric car will be a four seater providing a 250km range within the city. The car will be powered by Bollore’s Lithium Metal Polymer technology which is a tad different from the Lithium Ion technology as the battery cell is protected by passive and active systems that constantly monitor operations. Production will start with 15,000 vehicles being produced annually.
