Porsche revealed the new 911 Turbo Cabriolet, based on the new 997 series. As with the 911 Turbo Coupe, the Cabriolet will also be powered by a 3.6 liter six-cylinder ‘boxer’ engine with biturbo turbocharging and Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG).

The car will go on sale on September 8 for a heavy price of US$172,000. The car’s engine can generate 480 hp (353 kW) and 620 Nm of torque at 1950 rpm and has an optional Sport Chrono Turbo Package for overboost function. The company has applied some of the latest automotive technologies like Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) to provide you with a safe and smooth drive experience. The system, with its electronically controlled multi-plate clutch, shifts the drive output from the engine between the front and rear axles that enables you to transfer the drive entirely on front or rear wheel. The safety system includes six airbags and a comprehensive rollover protection system.

The six-speed manual transmission and Tiptronic S versions can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 and 3.8 seconds respectively and can mark a top speed of 310 km/h. Fuel consumption for the 911 Turbo Cabriolet is 12.9 liters per 100 kilometers.

The open version of the 911 Turbo only weighs 70 kilos more than the Coupe and the light, three-layer soft top can be automatically opened or closed in just 20 seconds. The car bears sleek and bold exterior and also has equally good interior that features full leather interior, bi-xenon head lamps, 19-inch forged alloy wheels, climate control air conditioning, wind-deflector, Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with satellite navigation and 5.8-inch color monitor and Bose Surround Sound System. All this makes it a fabulous package equivalent to my dream car.
