PorscheRumour is that Porsche would soon start working on a project which would compete with Bentley Continental WP and Ferrari 612 and on a small SUV based on the Audi Q5.



At the beginning of the nineties, one prototype of the successor four doors to the 928 named 989 was built. It was an altered form of the 928, but some economic crisis and the company’s obligation killed the project.



Based on a shortened version of Panamera, the new 928 is said to be equipped with a V6 engine in order to compete with Jaguar XK and BMW Serie 6 and with a compressed V8 engine which would compensate for the twelve cylinders of Bentley and Ferrari. It could even receive a hybrid engine similar to that of the Cayenne future.



Cayman is likely to create a problem a problem for Porsche. The Porsche 928 is likely to find a place between 911 Turbo and Panamera.
