The new Laguna model which is expected to be launched in the coming month has its grave importance for Renault. According to CEO Carlos Ghosn the company stakes its reputation on this new sedan and has some great expectations with the model.

Market will be spotting several variants of the car which include a five door, relative and coupe variant. Rumor has it that the Laguna coupe concept could be the production variant by Renault. The five door variant has already made it to the European markets and is going around for 20850 Euros; relative is also expected to join the crew just in a short while from now.

The much hyped coupe though is expected to go on sale, somewhere in the middle of 2008. It’s been quite some time now since Renault has taken its hands of the coupe market after the outbreak of the fire in 1987, at that time, it was Alpine A310.

The production version is expected to carry the same features as of the concept except the interiors which will be given an alteration to match requirements of a sedan. It will inherit the front from a present Lagoon. The coupe is expected to have frameless doors and windows, with black-powder coated alloy rims and a rear view mirror with intermittent gunners.

The car will also feature LED detailing and an aerodynamic diffuser. Any details regarding the engine that the coupe will carry is not available but it is expected to have the same as of its new sedan and estate models and thus will be having four-cylinder diesel and petrol engines varying from 1.6L to 2.0L.
