Renault debuted its R-Screen 3D viewer at the Laval Virtual Exhibition in France. The system, developed in conjunction with Clarté, offers a complete 3D experience and a dip into the virtual world. It consists of a motorized screen 2.5m wide and 1.8m high, following the movement of the user in a way that keeps it directly in front of the user.
A scale-one 3D image is displayed on the screen and is continuously updated by a computer following the movement of the screen. The movement allows the user to view the vehicle from all angles, in an image that is on full scale with the actual vehicle. Apart from the commercial uses it can be put to, the system also has immense uses for engineering and production.
