The Beast
Renault’s Brazil studio has a new concept based on the Sandero Stepway. The additions this concept makes to the Sandero include the ability to turn into a convertible, pick-up truck and even a coupe! Sand’Up uses its roof pillars to go through all these changes. When in pickup truck mode, the rear seats can be folded away to increase the load bed space by 40cm, with the manual hardtop, the concept gets a split tailgate clamshell boot.
The Machine
The fwd is powered by a 1.6 liter engine using ethanol as fuel to provide 108 bhp and 109 lb ft of torque. A zero to 60mph run will take 10.6 seconds on this concept.
The Thrill
The only thrill factor for the concept lies in its ability to turn into a pickup truck, coupe or convertible. We don’t really know how Renault is going to pull this one off, if this concept ever approaches production lines. Cool as the idea may sound, we doubt a production model would carry much appeal.
