The Audi E-series will be the brand’s venture into an entirely new territory. Scheduled for release in 2011, it will sit below the upcoming Audi A1. The E1 will share platform with the Volkswagen up! and aim straight at the MINI. Even though the car goes small in size, it will retain the premium “appeal” of the marque.
To be followed by more models, the E1 will set a standard for Audi’s E-series. The environment-friendly range will look for maximum fuel efficiency and low emissions. One of the variants of the E1 is expected to be entirely electric, allowing for 100 miles on a full charge. The diesel and gasoline variants will also aim for sum 100g/km emissions, and fuel economy at 94mpg. Engines will likely be 600cc two cylinder turbo units, and a 1.2-l three-cylinder unit may be offered as well. Prices are expected to be in the neighborhood of £12,000.
