Zombies wouldn’t be all that hungry for brains if they knew how to ride motorcycles, but as they aren’t good at anything except eating brains and getting shot in the head, it’s all useless. But normal people who ride motorcycles can have improved cognitive abilities, so says a study on middle-aged men. The study was undertaken by Ryuta Kawashima in partnership with Yamaha Japan and Tohoku University.
The study involved 22 men in their 40s or 50s, divided into two groups. People in one group were made to ride motorcycles everyday for two months, while the other group was asked not to ride motorcycles. Tests at the end of a two month period showed that the motorcycle-riding group increased an increase in their cognitive abilities (well over 50% increase), while the other group had a slight decline. The researchers pinned the cause on the “alertness” and “rapid problem solving” required to ride a motorcycle. Before you run out to get your motorcycle and become Einstein, here’s a fair warning.
