Finding a slot in a parking is a big problem but it seems the problem is going to become more sever for those who own a car with high emission rates of carbon dioxide.
Richmond council in south-west London has become the first to consider this policy. The council is set to charge the three times the normal residential parking fees for high carbon dioxide-emitting vehicles. The decision means that a family with two such cars may have to pay a fee up to $750 annually.
The policy seems to be a strict initiative to raise the awareness towards pollution and be playing a vital role in reducing usage of these high polluters. Some more London councils have shown their interests towards considering the policy. These councils are as follows Lambeth, Tower Hamlets, Camden, Kensington and Chelsea, Barking and Dagenham, Haringey, Southwark, Hackney and Havering.
