
According to a data released by a US research firm :
New car sales in the United States fell 4.2 per cent in April from a year earlier to 1,441,535 vehicles, the biggest fall recorded in six months.
Autodata Corp data revealed:
General Motors Corp slumped 10.8 per cent for the second consecutive month.
Ford Motor Co saw a 6.7 per cent decline.
Nissan Motor Co’s sales decreased 5.3 per cent to 87,000 vehicles.
With this crisis continuing, industry analysts said that Americans have shifted their preference to smaller vehicles as against the larger ones. It also fated GM’s and Ford’s newly introduced, fuel-efficient models and hybrid vehicles to perform exceptionally well.
