Rolls Royce Phantom is always associated with class and deservedly so as it is a facet it always renders but off late even the best cannot stay in their own trip and have to acclimatize to the prevailing trends and conceptions. A justification of this is the latest Rolls Royce Phantom Version which has been uncharacteristically incorporated with protective features.
Last year Mercedes revealed its S600 Guard model and this latest Phantom from Rolls Royce is developed pretty much on similar lines. Coincidentally, the S600 Guard was hardly differentiable from its basic model and so is the latest phantom as you cannot differentiate it from the standard phantom variant.
The new Phantom will offer the highest degree of ballistic protection and it is said to be engineered to the VR7 certification level. Features like; high-tech fiber constituents , usage of special steel ensuring protection of the body work , usage of thicker glass and polycarbonate layer fixation at the inside ensuring extra passenger protection justify its claim as one of the safest cars of the luxury segment .
Considering the equippings, it deserves getting certified as a VR7 sedan as it can thoroughly resist amour piercing bullets and underground grenade explosions. The overall weight of this phantom is understandably heavier thus Rolls Royce has used sturdier, aluminum spaceframe chassis and suspension components to cope up with the same.
The only thing which has not undergone a modification is the engine which is the same, offering 453 brake horse power at 720 Nm of Torque. The base model Phantom is priced at $340,000 so you can expect this Protective Gear variant to make a big hole in your pocket but then it targeted to be sold in Middle East, where the car maker believes, a lot of potential buyers are prevalent.
Well, we know have one each from Mercedes and Rolls Royce and the only one which could feel left out is Cadillac and we could soon have an anti- ballistic road scorcher from them as well , what say !
