The Saab 9-X Air BioHybrid Concept is all geared up for its North American debut at the LA Auto Show. The four-seat convertible has a fabric canopy top, and the C-pillars curve upwards to hold and mount the canopy top. These C-pillars also hold the “wraparound glasshouse, including a separate, recessed rear screen.” The storage area is a spring loaded sliding compartment that is placed just below the tail-lights and is spacious enough to hold two golf bags.
This concept is powered by E85 fuel that feeds a 200hp engine, which manages to provide a zero to 62mph acceleration in 8.1 seconds, with carbon emissions held at 107g/km. Interiors are full of interesting gadgetry with the focus on a central, floor mounted console in the cockpit. The console has five 3-d display screens for the driver, offering complete control/monitoring and entertainment as well.
With inputs from Sony Ericsson, the concept gets wireless connectivity via Bluetooth and the in-car interface enables streaming of data. The portable devices can be programmed to remotely lock or unlock the car, raise or lower the canopy and even change presets.
