Saleen has turned 25, and how do gearheads and Mustang
tuners like them celebrate the occasion? By launching a high-powered limited
edition Ford Mustang of course. Saleen’s SA-25 Sterling Edition Ford Mustang is based on the S302 extreme and takes the pony to the extreme as well, with a price tag bordering on the extreme.
Power comes from a 620hp twin-screw supercharged V8 engine that generates more than 600 lb-ft of torque. Transmission is a short throw, six-speed manual. With this powerhouse growling beneath the hood, the car jumps from zero to 60mph in less than 4 seconds and completes the quarter mile in nearly 12 seconds. With such a powerful beast under the hood, engineers at Saleen had to ensure that the power generated was relayed to the tarmac, this led to a host of performance upgrades.
Upgrades include forged crankshaft, forged connecting rods, individually blueprinted forged pistons, 5 axis CNC aluminum cylinder heads, high flow fuel injectors, and a set of high performance camshafts. The limited edition vehicle moves on 20-inch five-spoke aluminium alloys shod in Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tires. Saleen has priced these cars at $100,000.
But its not all you get, $100,000 buys you first class
airfare for two to Detroit, limo transits, good accommodation, meals, plant
tours, a jacket and some more stuff as well.
