The New York Auto Show has attracted as much attention if not more than the Geneva Motor Show. Apart from the strong tradition that binds both the events, it is also the fact that they are unveiling some of the best cars that are on show this year. While most of these cars and the technology that the hold will take a year or two to hit the roads, it is still exciting to look at the future; a future that is just a year away. So these are pretty much exciting times for all car lovers and why should it be any different anyway?
Saleen has uncovered its S5S Raptor concept today at the New York Auto Show. The S5S Raptor gets a supercharged 5.0-liter V8, pumping 650 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 630 lb-ft of torque at 4,300 rpm. 0-60 mph comes in a blistering 3.2 seconds. To side with the environmentalist and the Eco-Friends, Saleen chose E85 as the juice to power the Raptor. The lightweight aluminum chassis, two seated super sport can be equipped with either a six-speed tranny or an optional paddle shifting sequential gearbox. To bring the 20-inch wheels to a stop, braking power is delivered by 15-inch front rotors with 6-piston calipers and 13-inch rear rotors with dual piston calipers.
The car comes equipped with both phenomenal looks and sheer outrageous performance and it looks like a pretty big hit already. The car is a combination of both brilliant aerodynamic design and amazing engine thrust that will allow you to cut through the wind. The S5S comes at a price of at least $ 185, 000. Think that is too expensive? Just take a look at the price tag of this V8 Vantage from Aston Martin and you will think otherwise. The car will hit roads in a couple of years, so hold on till then.
