Ronn Motor Company’s Scorpion roadster uses hydrogen as a fuel, but not in the conventional system that use fuel cells and require storage of hydrogen. Scorpion does quite the opposite by generating Hydrogen from electrolysis of water, and then mixing this hydrogen with a 91-octane gasoline to feed the engine. The president of the company, Ronn Maxwell, calls his patented system H2GO and insists that it is safer than the conventional fuel cells.

The vehicle, debuted at SEMA, has a fuel efficiency of 40mpg and 450hp from Acura’s 3.5-l V6 are good enough to root for Maxwell’s claims. Top speed figure goes to a high 200mph. The limited edition vehicle will see only 200 units being built, each carrying a sticker price of $150,000. In case you hunger for more power, doling in another $100,000 will get you a tweaked, 600hp Scorpion.
