General Motors is all set to launch the second generation Agila, a city car for the European markets. The car is expected to make an appearance at Frankfurt this September and will hit the markets in the forthcoming spring.
Agila is a successor of the Suzuki Wagon R, produced in Japan. The first generation of the car is being produced by the German auto giant since the year 2000 under the badges Vauxhall in UK and Suzuki in some other markets.
The entire car is an astounding package with a whole load of cargo space, easy loading & unloading, good maneuverability for the city traffic and great visibility. It is also furnished with safety features such as ABS, front and side airbags. Agilas sitting position provides a commanding view of the road and offers a comfortable position while driving.

Looking at it from the outside with just 3.5 meters of length, it is a great surprise that the car of this size has 1250 liters of enormous space. With an electric power steering and compact design it delivers a quite effortless city drive and also becomes easy to park on that tight locale.
Agila has a 1.0-liter ECOTEC engine, which produces 58 hp with a top speed of 142kmh. This is a highly fuel efficient vehicle, as for the odds, the car makes 100 km in just 6.3 liters with the 1.0 liter model and 6.5 liters for the 1.2liter variant.
It is an eco friendly vehicle and meets with EU standards for the coming five years. It is designed to produce a lesser aerodynamic drag by lowering its roofline and engineering its shape. Customers are given a wide variety of colures to choose from.
Yet with the entire package, Agila will have a lot to fight against; EU market is full of cars in the small segment and it will have to put on a good competition. Moreover it will have to show some individual character to be distinguished from the rest.

By the look of things it is an environment friendly car and is fun to drive. Sara Nicholson, Opel European Marketing Manager cites:
The Agila, the new Baby-Opel, is a clever package of fun and versatility for the girl about town.
