When GM first spoke of its lineup at SEMA they gave out only one image and that of the Pontiac Solstice SD 290. Details for the car have now emerged; it is designed to recreate the feeling of racing cars and provides just one seat.

The car has been on a diet to shed pounds; it is much lighter than its predecessor, the Solstice GXP. Weight has decreased by doing away with the windshield which just covers the driver (who else would need it anyway), side glasses, convertible top and climate control system.

Power comes from a direct-injection 2.0L turbo that churns out 290hp. To add to the race-ready look there is a club sport ZOK Suspension package, a cockpit filled with auxiliary gauges, racing seat, 19-inch forged alloys with Hoosier R6 racing tires. Does that get any better?
