If things go smoothly, by 2009 Shell Hydrogen B.V., MAN Truck & Bus Company N.V., and Connexxion Holding N.V. will be credited for creating the world’s largest hydrogen-fueled public transport operation in Rotterdam — also for enabling the largest hydrogen bus fleet operation in a single region before the end of the decade.



The alliance will first conduct an in-depth economic and technical study of the project. It is also currently seeking additional stakeholders, before making a possible investment decision in 2007.



Once the plan sets sailing, Connexxion, will be responsible for operating more than 20 hydrogen internal combustions engine buses manufactured by MAN Nutzfahrzeuge and its subsidiary NEOMAN Bus. Fuel for the buses would be available at Netherlands first Shell combined gasoline-hydrogen service station.
