
The Czech automaker, Skoda has come a long way after producing its first auto Voiturette A in 1905 after leaving bicycles and motorcycles world. Now, the Vaclav Laurin and Vaclav Klement company can bask in the glory of its success for it has succeeded in producing its 10 Millionth vehicle, the new silver Octavia Combi Elegance 2.0 TDI in July 13th.
Starting with just one model the company has more than tripled its production. Now the company owns plants in the Czech Republic (Mlada Boleslav, Kvasiny, Vrchlabi) as well as abroad (Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ukraine, India and Kazakhstan) and soon in China and Russia. The company’s all-time bestsellers are �koda 105-120 (including the Rapid, Garde and 130 models), �koda Favorit which was the first front-engine car for a long time, then the Felicia and the currently produced Fabia, Octavia and Superb (over 3 million vehicles).
For Skoda, the acquisition by the Volkswagen Group is one of the most important milestones in �koda’s history. Celebrating its achievement in one of the most remarkable way, Skoda donated the ten-millionth vehicle to ‘Czech Centres’, a government-funded organization.
