Bubble, the Chinese clone on Smart ForTwo was scheduled for a debut at the Bologna Motor Show. The manufacturer Shanghuan Automobiles was stopped from debuting the model by Daimler AG through a temporary court injunction. Apparently, this was not enough to dissuade European distributors Martin Motors from showing the car to the media at Bologna.
Arguing that the front-engined four seater Bubble with a front wheel drive was not similar to rear-engined, rear wheel drive two-seater Smart, Martin Motors showed the car to media in a parking lot of the Bologna Motor Show.
Shanghuan Automobiles has been marred with controversy, its SUV named CEO closely resembles the BMW X5. The CEO went on sale in Romania and Italy earlier this year, but found few customers even with its X5 like looks. Only 22 CEOs were sold in Italy.
