The Solar Man bike by Chen Weiping seems to be a carefully thought-out concept that very much deserves the bronze it received at the Lotus Design Awards. Being lightweight, the bike is fairly portable at 12kg and foldable, it can work well for a typical office commute, where the distance between home and public transport, and public transport to office can be covered on the Solar Man. It uses solar energy to get charged, and if that isn’t available, there’s a cord to charge it from electric outlets.
