The solar powered Solus concept may have wheels that look quirky, but designers Ju Ho Young and Kim Sung Uk from the Seoul National University of Technology have taken care to make it efficient and safe. The body is made entirely of a transparent material, with solar panels mounted along its inner surface. Solar panels use light amplified material for each solar cell, making them more efficient. They supply juice to a battery which feeds the in-wheel electric motors of the concept. A hexagonal arrangement is used for placing the solar cells, and it provides a dual advantage by increasing their efficiency, and by reducing the damage in case of a collision.
