The race is on, the gauntlet has been thrown, the war has begun!
While BMW could relax for the last couple of years, knowing they were the leader of the pack with their 507 horsepower strong M5, times have changed now.
There is a new kid in town - the Audi RS6 with its massive 580 horses under the hood, some say it’s even more. Figures around 600 hp have been spoken off. Not to forget, the new MB E AMG is under development too.
To make sure that no M5 customers will change the brand and buy an Audi or Mercedes instead, BMW are preparing a new, hot and evil version of the M5. And this time it might even get a turbo. The photographer, who snapped the M 5 prototype, noticed that the sound was different from the usual M5. And clearly visible are the extra air intakes in the front bumper. There is also a gap between the BMW typical kidneys and the hood.
In addition, while we are at it, why not let there be an M7 this time. The pictured 7-series prototype has also something that the normal 7-series prototypes don’t have: a big hole for an air intake at the front of the hood, and two smaller air outlets at the back end of the hood. Could this be the sign we have been hoping for? It’s known that the new 7 series will be sportier and more fun to drive, so why shouldn’t there also be an M 7, after all?
Therefore, beware Audi, beware Mercedes ............the war has just started.
