Ford is doing some final testing of its new sportier version of the Mondeo, called ST.
The sportiness of the new model is hidden very well, with a small spoiler on the trunk and a front bumper with only smaller changes. Also the exhaust pipes have grown a little and the lower part of the rear bumper has some diffuser-like look.
The big news is under the hood, where we guess at two engine alternatives. The first guess would be the 260 horsepower strong 2.3 litre four-cylinder turbo-engine known from the Mazda 6 MPS, but it might even be the five-cylinder 300 horsepower engine from Volvo that will find its way under the hood.
As seen on these pictures, this prototype is driving with normal steel rims, instead of the 17 inch or even 18 inch alloy rims that will be standard on the ST, to hide the bigger brakes. With more power, some better brakes will be needed.
